Thermochromic glass/photochromic glass


Thermochromic glass, also known as temperature-controlled dimming glass and photochromic glass, is based on temperature-controlled color-changing nano-materials, which are compounded with ordinary glass to form a adjustable shading system. Thermochromic nano-materials can change their own light transmission and shading status by sensing the change of ambient temperature or irradiation intensity independently.

Thermochromic glass is a kind of intelligent glass with temperature memory function, we are familiar with the PDLC smart glass and SPD/EPC smart glass, which have to adjust the light through the power supply control, while the temperature-controlled dimming glass can independently adjust the transmittance of the glass according to the external temperature rise without external energy, thus realizing the role of sunshade and heat insulation.

Thermochromic glass working principle:

When the sunlight irradiates the thermochromic glass, the heat gradually accumulates, the glass gradually warms up, and when the glass temperature reaches the threshold set by the dimming glass, the glass gradually presents blue or foggy white, which produces the function of shading; when the sunlight becomes weaker, the temperature accumulates on the glass surface and gradually decreases, and the glass is restored to the transparent state.

Thermochromic glass this transparent → fogging (tinted), fogging (tinted) → transparent work mode is cyclic, no need for additional energy, no need for personal management, less energy consumption, compared with PDLC dimming glass is more intelligent and technological.

1. Transparent→fogging, fogging→transparent

On the basis of thermochromic dimming glass original sheet, according to the actual need for composite processing such as hollow, laminated, LOW-E, etc., it can be applied to facade parts such as building curtain walls, doors and windows; top of buildings such as light roofs and light sheds; and star-level buildings with high requirements for heat transfer systems.

The structures of commonly used temperature-controlled dimming glass are 6mm+2M+6 high/medium/low transmittance LOW-E+12a+6mm, whose heat transfer system can reach 1.6-1.7, SHGC (total solar energy transmittance) in foggy state can reach 0.18, and visible light transmittance can reach 0.35-0.72, which is a good blocking effect on solar rays, heat radiation, and so on.
