Attack resistant glass

attack resistant glass

DG Special Glass can offer a range of  laminated attack-resistant glass products that meet international standards EN356 and China GA 844-2018.Attackt resistant glass typically consists of multiple layers of float glass or tempered glass laminated together. Some products, for thinner structures or safer structures incorporate polycarbonate. For better thermal efficiency or fire protection, hollow structures can be added to the laminated base to form Double Glazed units.

Why attack resistant glass can achieve anti-attack

Laminated glass

The high-toughness material inside the laminated glass can use polyvinyl butyral (PVB) or polycarbonate.PVB becomes optically transparent after the multi-layer glass is processed at high temperature and high pressure in a glass laminating autoclave. PVB is strong and flexible to bond the glass layers to it, and no penetrating holes will appear even if it is twisted under attack.

The thickness of the multi-layer composite glass ranges from 12mm to 60mm to defeat hammers, axes, and even power tools.

To get a higher level of attack resistance by using the traditional glass+PVB+glass laminating process you have to increase the thickness and thus the weight. Glass-Polycarbonate is thinner and lighter.

Polycarbonate is a clear thermoplastic that is strong and can withstand repeated manual attacks, so it is used to make riot shields, safety helmets and more. The downside of polycarbonate is that it is easily scratched and is not resistant to some chemicals, by putting polycarbonate between the two glass panes these problems can be eliminated.

laminated safety glass VS laminated security glass

Laminated safety glass

Laminated safety glas is mainly used in architectural applications. In the case of accidental damage, the use of single-piece glass will directly fall and cause danger. Laminated safety glass may be partially broken after impact, but it can still maintain its integrity.

Laminated security glass

Laminated security glass is a broad term used to describe a variety of products, which can cover the names of anti-smash, explosion and manual attack glass, and ultimately provide protection for people or property from threats.
